Partnering with Lowes Home Improvement and Handy Paint Pail made all the difference.

Weeks Four and Five of the One Room Challenge fee like I made some major moves. The weather was beautiful and I was able to get some of the hardest parts of the project done with my favorite helper. I power washed the porch and the flower bed and was able to sand and plant. Our family time this week was spent

Mostly outside, taking out all our backyard toys and furniture, getting ready for the months to be even warmer. ( Reel For Week Four Here).

These past two weeks helped keep my anxiety at a better level since I’ve been struggling, but moving my body and using every muscle helps.

When you use the right tools and products, it makes all the difference. I was finally able to stain the porch and side gate with Valspar’s Pre tinted transparent wood stain and sealer in the color Canyon Brown.

The stain was rain ready in four hours.

It has four year protection on decks like ours which is good for the little feet that walk barefoot on it. It’s also all weather defense in just one coat that’s waterproof, with UV protection and mildew resistant. Before we moved in when Vienna was only three months old, the landlord had built the porch and stairs but did not seal them. Over these two years, it became slippery, mildewy from the rain and snow making it easier for my toddler and older dog to slip. Now that it’s power washed, sanded, stained and sealed, I feel so much more comfortable knowing it’s protected (and looks so good). I am truly grateful and excited as a @loweshomeimprovement partner to be able to use and share this awesome product.

In support of this porch project, I also partnered with @handypaintpail and let me tell you how easy this endeavor was with the help of their tools! (Reel for Week Five Here). The handy paint tool was so useful as a reusable paint stirrer, can opener and paintbrush cleaner (it can also be used a roller cover scraper). I also used the handy snap cap and handy pro pail. I was able to pour my stain in the pail without spilling (definite plus for me) and holding the pail in my hand while staining was lightweight and comfortable with a magnetic brush holder.

The paint stirrer multitool was my favorite.

I’m usually a fly by my pants kind of DIYer. With clients I always took every step needed, but in my home I tend to cut corners because I have an overstimulation with living mid project. This time, I didn’t…and it shows. ❤️

The stain color helps the porch look cohesive with the window trim.
